Tropical forest, fluvial islands, channels and swamp lands with many rivers, creeks and lagoons make up the geography of this area.
The guest rooms are over 450 square feet boasting two queen size beds, rod racks, and walk in closets. They have beautiful 12 foot ceilings made of wild cane. The walls are native tongue and groove hard woods. Each room has its own private bathroom which is fully tiled and has its own hot water heater, and coffee maker for those early risers. All rooms are fully air- conditioned. Hungry? The restaurant serves the finest all you can eat buffet style food around. Its legendary service features fine cuisine such as Black & White Sesame Crusted Yellow Fin Tuna with Wasabi Mayonnaise, or Rotisserie Roasted Prime Rib with Porcini Mushroom Gravy along with Cinnamon-Honey Glazed Carrots, Rosemary-Parmesan Foccacia. This is a fantastic place to fish, and is among the best sport fishing destinations in the world. Snook, Snapper, Mackerel and Tarpon are the predominant sport fish caught in these waters. Costa Rican waters are home to the some of the largest Tarpon in the world. Tarpon (Megalops Atlanticus) are the "Silver Kings" of these coastal waters and can grow beyond 6 feet in length and weigh as much as 350 lbs. It is known for its spectacular leaps when hooked. The world record for Tarpon caught using a hook and line is 281 lbs. Fly into SJO (San Jose ) airport, collect bags and go through Customs, outside an Execucar will await you and take you to the hotel of your choice. You have the rest of the day to yourself. In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel lobby at 5:30 A.M. The EXECUCAR driver will take you to the private airstrip where you board a chartered plane for 30 min. trip to the Barra airstrip. Upon arrival at the Barra airstrip, you will be met by Silver King's host, and your personal fishing guide. A 5 minute boat ride up the Colorado River will bring you to Silver King Lodge.
You may want to take a "Jungle Cruise" where you will likely see Iguanas, Keel-Billed Toucans, Caimans, Crocodiles, and Spider and White-Faced Monkeys.
