It has been in the Houghton family since 1872, when the Cheyenne and herds of buffalo still roamed the plains of central Kansas. Ringneck sits alone in a pristine prairie valley looking over to the Blue Hills range. Keith and Debra Houghton have personally and professionally operated Ringneck Ranch on the family’s 5th generation homestead from its beginning in 1983. Keith and Deb’s hospitality and warmth make every stay a great one. The operation takes in over 10,000 acres of fine native pheasant, bobwhite and prairie chicken habitat imaginable.
The spacious main guest lodge is the perfect place to entertain friends, family and clients. From cozy rooms to family suites, the Ranch offers accommodations to suit each group’s needs. Rooms feature clean private or shared bathrooms as well as comfortable furnishings. Wireless Internet is available in all Ringneck Ranch lodging facilities. One of the highlights of the trip is the country gourmet meals! The home cooked meals start with hot from the oven biscuits with gravy, sausage, eggs, fruit juices and plenty of hot coffee. Lunch features homemade soups with homemade breads and desserts. Suppers include grilled steaks, pork chops and roast beef with vegetables, homemade rolls and fresh baked pies. **It is important to let the ranch know of any food allergies or dietary restrictions several weeks ahead of time.
**Ringneck Ranch does not have a license to sell alcohol, but guests are welcome to bring their own or order from L&M Liquor in Downs, Kansas, and it will be picked up for you.
Ringneck Ranch, makes every effort to ensure that every hunter has the highest quality upland game bird hunting experience. Each hunt includes a local Ranch guide and dog handler, well-trained experienced gun dogs, transportation to and from the fields. The game offered are Pheasants, Chukar, Prairie Chickens, Turkey, and Dove. (Depending on season) You may spend one to four days of hunting with arrival the afternoon prior to your first day afield. With a mid-afternoon check-in, you may enjoy an optional shoot at the five stand clay range or take a rod and reel to one of the nearby ponds. Shotgun-12, 16, and 20 gauge are normally used for pheasants and an improved or modified choke is recommended.
Getting to the ranch is possible from these airports. Once at the airport you need to rent a car for the drive to Ringneck. OR if you have a private plane arrangements can be made to pick you up at the landing strip.

The airstrip at the ranch was originally limited to use by experienced pilots and certain types of aircraft. With a substantial improvement plan to eliminate obstacles and the establishment of buffalo grass completed, we now have a 60 ft. wide and 2600 ft. unobstructed turf airstrip with a 1200 ft gravel over-run on the south end. If you plan to land at the Ranch, you must download the Ringneck Ranch Airstrip Information Page below, and fax a signed copy to the ranch with the pilot and aircraft information completed.
Large twins with heavy loads and light jets should plan to land at Beloit, Kansas (K61). Beloit has a 3600 ft runway with an IFR approach. Drive time from Beloit to Ringneck Ranch is about 30 minutes.
Medium jets and larger should plan to land at Salina, Kansas (SLN). Salina has 10,000 ft runway, full ILS approach. Drive time from Salina to Ringneck Ranch is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.
